A referral can be made as follows

• Telephone the Helpline number 01924 298954 and ask to speak to the Referral Co-ordinator, or request a supply of referral forms and send/fax to STAR.
• If choosing to make a telephone referral, the Referral Co-ordinator will need the following information: name, age, contact address and telephone number and brief details of what has happened to the client.

What will happen next?

• The Referral Co-ordinator will contact ISWs/Counsellors in the client's area to check their availability against that of the client.

• The ISW/Counsellor will contact the client within 48 hours to arrange support or counselling as quickly as possible.  (75% of support or counselling sessions take place within 2 weeks of receipt of the referral). ISWs visit clients in their homes or somewhere else convenient to the client.  Counsellors work from various premises throughout West Yorkshire, all of which are easy to get to.

• The client will receive a letter confirming the name of the ISW/Counsellor and details of the appointment.
