If you haven't reported the incident to the police, or had a forensic examination, it is still very important that you consider sexual health treatment. You can do this in one of the following ways:
• Contact your G.P. You do not have to provide a history or disclose the assault; however you should stress the importance of an early appointment.
• Contact our Referral Co-ordinator who can arrange for an Initial Support Worker (ISW) to visit you at home, arrange the appointment and accompany you to the clinic if you wish.
• Contact your local sexual health clinic yourself. If you would prefer to contact them direct, tell the receptionist you are a client of STAR (This is a discreet way of informing the receptionist that a sexual assault has occurred)
Please note: All visits to GU Medicine are completely confidential and treatment including medicine is free. You can self-refer without telling your doctor.
Please do not ignore these very important issues. It is far better to put your mind at rest than it is to worry about 'what might be'.
If you have had a forensic examination, the doctor should have provided emergency contraception (if applicable) and you may have arranged an appointment at your local Sexual Health Clinic. If this hasn't occurred for whatever reason, please contact STAR on 01924 292361 and we can arrange this for you.
